I ran into Stoney Burke today on campus.I was surprised because his big fat Free Speeching mouth has been missing from campus for the last few weeks.
When I talked to him he was still in shock or in his own words "still stoned" about his day in the spot light. On Tuesday, San Francisco proclaimed it Stoney, A Clown that Rabbles Rouses in Defense of Free Speech, Day.
He was eager to show off his Proclaimation.
During our conversation I watched how people just popped up to congratuatle him.
One fellow came up to him and offered him an apologetic congratulations:
"First I thought you were a nut. Now you're a nut with celebrance... and thats a huge difference."
Another less eloquent admirer said:

"Congratuations, Nut."
To which Stoney accepted with a smirk.
When I asked Stoney to describe the ceremony was at city hall. He said it was formal and kinda stiff. Everyone was wearing nice suits and had perfect hair. He joked "That it was like a party with no drinks."
Next I asked him where he had been for the last couple weeks. He said that he went to a Hindu wedding in Los Angeles and did a little Street Performance at UCLA.

He described the campus as being fairly conservative and having a huge military prescence. He said he was unable to draw more than a hand full of people. Most likely it was because he had no backup. He was alittle hestitant to go full out. He might have been a little afriad that he might get beat up or arrested for his favorite litany of :
"Fuck Bush."
After Thirty years of Street Performing I can only imagine that this Free Speecher has a feel for which places can take the sting of a little gadfly action.
